Photographyis what everyone is doing in this era. Because of the popularization and evolution of smartphones, the cameras on the phones are getting more and more powerful. Now, to take good photos, it seems that you just a good scene, press the shutter button on the phone, then there is a beautiful photo. The photos of the starry sky, the Milky Way and slow motion, are used to require a lot of money to buy professional equipment to take, but now with the powerful built-in algorithm, the mobile phone can easily take pictures of these. It is very easy to record our daily-life and momentary scenes in recent years.

However, in this age, there are still a group of people who are willing to carry equipment weighing several kilograms, spend lots of time on setting parameters manually, and spend a lot of money to buy expensive lenses. After all these is just to take a photo. I was confused by these behaviors before. At the time, I didn’t pay much attention to taking pictures. I think that as long as good memories stays in our mind, it is enough. I'm not interested to attract the attention of others by taking photos, so it seems that there is no need to take pictures.

However, it was these people who are still willing to use the "old-fashion way" in these days changed my mind.

The imaging of digital cameras is done by projecting the image on the sensor through the lens, and the sensor then processes the signal into a digital format to present the digital photos we see. Among them, the sensor represents how many light signals you can absorb and process. With the improvement of modern mobile phone algorithms, the signal processing is supported by high-performance CPU and AI technology. In fact, The performance will be better than that of ordinary cameras, but why there are still some photos cannot be taken by mobile phones so far? The reason is on the sensor itself.

The sensor formats of normal modern cameras are 1 inch, M4/3, APS-C, and FF (full frame). These formats represent the size of the sensor. The larger the sensor, the more sufficient light input you have, that is, more information can be received. This makes an advantage on the hardware level. Although whether a photo looks good or not has nothing to do with these formats, its advantages on hardware destined that some information are only possible to stay on the picture if sensor is large enough. And these "Top level" photos are a major factor for the camera to be retained, because this is what most mobile phones are not able to achieve.

But in fact, no matter what the level of the camera you are using, the purpose of photography is to keep the image of the moment. Whether it is a fabulous scene or a moment of war times, every photo represents a story. This is what I've discovered when I was looking for higher level of photos. Good photos are still hard to get because photography is an art of light. However, after taking many photos, when I take a look back, I've realized that the most attractive thing about the photography is the story behind it. All said and done, I'm still not intrested to use photos to attract everyone's attention, but our memory is limited after all. How can we preserve the memories of that only happened once in our life time? The way I found is this kind of art itself.
